Sarracenia alata

To my shame I really don't know very much about this plant apart from the fact that it is not a hybrid. I believe there are only eight species of Sarracenia.

20/03/2000 In about the 3rd week of March as the flower heads are just showing through. I take a good look at the plants and cut back any dead growth.		31/03/2000 About a week later you can see the flower heads about 3cm tall
31/03/2000 Here is a better picture of the flower heads.		18/04/2000 Only a few weeks later and flower heads have grown to about 30cm.
26/04/2000 Here you can see that the flower buds are all bowing their heads, it won't be too long before they open.		08/05/2000 In full bloom. The flowers are scented and smell like sweet lemon. Also about now the new leaves start to grow, they are red in colour.
